Firstly, an apology

I have been a wee bit slack at blogging this week.

I guess I'll blame life getting in the way! Not that we've been doing anything particularly exciting, but Thomas has been SO good and cooperative this past week, that we've all just soaked it up and forgotten about pretty much everything else!

And when I say good, I mean really really good. He's clearly having another growth spurt, as he's eating anything and everything you put in front of him (well, except for fruit *sigh*). He actually ate brocolli before anything else on his plate one night!

We've had lamb cutlets ($30/kg - ouch) that he adooored and gobbled up before you could blink. He ate fresh fish (crumbed and panfried, can't go much wrong!). There was pork roast and lamb roast, both of which went down a treat! And on Friday, three Nutella sandwiches, on top of his usual day's eating. That's six pieces of bread!

So accept my apologies :) We take the good weeks with the bad when living with a two year old!

A ticker!

That's Thomas speak for sticker lol!

One of his favourite pastimes at the moment is picking stickers ("tickers") off things!

So far he's pulled the stickers off his bike, his car garage he got for his birthday, and even desperately tried to pull stickers off jars at the supermarket!

If anyone needs stickers removed, give us a call!

Back to basics

Tonight we had delicious roast pork for dinner, with roast spuds, carrot and pumpkin too. Thomas is looooving roast vegies right now, so its about the only dinner he'll eat at the moment!

Of course, what is roast pork without apple sauce??

Turns out, the tinned apple from the baby aisle brought back happy memories of early solids for Thomas, because he happily gobbled the leftover can with a spoon, even letting me spoon feed him part of it!

Awwww still my little bubba sometimes :)

Cluck cluck chicken!

I'm feeling completely out of control clucky!

So many friends, aquaintances and forum ladies are dropping babies or coming very close to dropping them, and its making me a teeny tiny massive bit clucky!

I also have friends who are actively TTC, and I so hope 2011 brings just as many babies as 2010 is going to!

For now though, I'll just enjoy my big 2 year old baby, and sneak in as many cuddles with little bubbas that I can!

So proud of my big boy!

We're well over a week in and completely dummy free!

No relapses, and surprisingly, tantrums have been a lot easy to manage. Guess he knew we'd eventually crumble and give him his dummy!

Still taking a wee while to get to sleep, but I don't care, no more dummies!

And yet I still can't bring myself to throw them away *sigh*

Quite possibly, the meaning of life

Dasaaa vgf fvfgi mt6i87r qwwwwwwww az

And there you have it.

Okay, I'm kidding. That's actually the message my son left for me on the computer tonight. I have no idea how he did it - nothing was open on the screen, but somehow he managed to open WordPad and type that. He even uses the space bar!

Watching mummy spend too much time on the comp much? LOL

Dummies are for dummies

And thankfully this week Thomas has all but kicked his dummy habit!

On Tuesday his chin had come up in a bit of a saliva rash, and drooling with his dummy in place was not helping! So Tuesday night I popped him to bed as usual, but couldn't see a dummy on his dresser and couldn't be bothered hunting one down, so tucked him in, kissed his head and closed the door. Not a whimper, grizzle or trip out of bed all night! Fluke?

So Wednesday I had his carer put him down without his dummy for his day sleep = same thing!

Wednesday night, no problem. Same goes for Thursday day sleep.

Speedbump on Thursday night - a 45 minute performance of crying, screaming and hopping in and out of bed! No dummy tho, we left his door open as a compromise, and it worked!

So we're 3 days and dummy free - amen!

Time for an update!

Now that my little boy is rapidly growing into a big boy, I decided it was time to update his bedroom!

He's been in a single bed all year, but it only had a neutral duvet because originally it was just our spare guest bed.

In the latest Kmart mailer there was the cutest bedroom set, and it was nice and cheap, plus the colours would work with the existing thermal backed curtains (our budget doesn't stretch that far!). So we trotted off to Kmart and picked up the matching sheets, duvet and wall canvas's. I refrained from getting the lamp, cushions and wall hooks (for now anyway).

It should look a little something like this:

Cute huh??

Change is in the air

I sat down last night and had a good hard look at our family budget.

Its been about 6 months since I did this last, and our situation has changed substantially (mortgage decreased, wages increased), but we're just not making headway with achieving our financial goals.

So after punching in all our expenses into the Sorted website, we discovered where we really should be heading in the coming months, and its pretty damn exciting!

Discipline is required, and we both suck in that department. So we'll be leaving our cards at home and using cash only, to remove temptation for unnecessary spending!

And after checking out the fruit and vege market in the city last Sunday, we're officially converted! Today we braved the rain and gale winds and for less than $20 got:
* Brocolli
* Potatoes
* Carrots
* Courgettes
* Spring Onions
* Pumpkin
* Capsicums
* Oranges
* Bananas
* Cherry tomatoes

The quality was awesome, and I reckon it was about half the price of the supermarket. So not only is this going to be good for the wallet, its going to be good for the body too!

Can you tell I'm excited?!
